Are You Ready for the Open Road?

If you haven’t already heard, the official start of summer is June 21st, 2017; many of us will stay local, maybe enjoying longs days on crowded beaches, or perhaps making use of the grill that’s been stored away all winter. The remainder of us, however, will be taking to the roadways, and nothing brings out our inner adventurer more than being on the open road. It’s easy to become preoccupied with just making it to your planned destination, but there are a few things that should be considered before traveling on our nation’s highways. You may want to have your vehicle serviced; have you ever heard the axiom, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure?” It was made famous by Benjamin Franklin, and it still holds true today; nothing will disrupt your road trip more than an unexpected, but preventable, mechanical problem. So here are some suggestions that will hopefully keep you on the road, and out of the repair shop:

1) Inspect your tires; make sure that they are properly inflated and that they have sufficient tread.

2) Check the fluids in your vehicle; make sure that your vehicle has adequate oil, windshield fluid, brake fluid, and engine coolant.

3) If necessary, tune up your vehicle; this will improve your gas mileage and keep your vehicle running smoothly.

Obviously, not everyone is mechanically inclined; many of us are more adept at driving than we are at repairing our vehicles, but you needn’t fret. Our service department can inspect your vehicle and make sure that it’s in perfect running order. Consider it a pit stop before embarking on that next summer getaway.
